Shock as 'dead' woman comes back to life and climbs off mortuary slab

An elderly woman who was pronounced dead came back to life after a night in a hospital morgue in Russia.   Zinaida Kononova, 81, was pronounced dead after surgery in Russia to remove an intestinal obstruction.   Her family was informed and began planning her funeral. She was taken to the morgue in Gorshechensky central district hospital at 1:10am on 14 August.   Almost seven hours later at 8am a female morgue worker "got the shock of her life" when she found the grandmother sprawled on the floor.   The morgue   The woman had fallen as she attempted to climb off the morgue table and escape.   An ambulance driver overheard the commotion as he entered the building, and says the "frightened" morgue worker was saying "Grandma, lie down, granny, be quiet."   The paramedic thought the morgue employee had gone "crazy" and was talking to the dead. EFCC arrests soldier and 26 others for alleged internet fraud in Lekki (photos)

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal Office, have arrested a serving military personnel, Lance Corporal Ajayi Kayode and 26 others for alleged internet fraud in the Lekki axis of Lagos State.   A statement released by the antigraft agency says Kayode, with service number NAF18/34732, was arrested in his military attire during an early morning raid at 6B, Fatai Idowu Arobike, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, on Saturday, August 15, 2020, following intelligence received from concerned members of the public about his alleged involvement in criminal activities.     He was arrested alongside Kalu Emmanue; Hassan Sunday; Odinaka David Okem; Victor Ochiabuito; Christopher Prince; Victor Ologhu; Alex Aka; Miracle Onyekwere; Habeeb Ayomide; Olakunle Ajeigbu, Rasheed Olanrewaju and Salam Hakeem.   Others are: Adeniran Nurudeen; Opeyemi Ojo Chris; Derrick Moris; Shehu Oluoti; Fuad Akinbayo; Babatunde Idowu; Uzo Igwe Nathaniel; Debowale Adedoyin; Shegun Emmanuel; Gods

#BBNaija: Kiddwaya wins head of house challenge, picks Tolanibaj as Deputy

Kiddwaya has won the head of house challenge which took place today August 17, in the fourth week of the Big Brother Naija reality show.    Kiddwaya competed with 13 other housemates excluding Erica who won the challenge last week.   He went on to pick Tolanibaj as his deputy and they both enjoy immunity from eviction this week.    Kiddwaya was however given a task from Big Brother who said he will be going on "vacation" for some time. EFCC re-arrests Mompha over fresh charge

Internet celebrity, Ismaila Mustapha aka Mompha, who is facing money laundering charges before the Federal High Court, has been re-arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC.   Punch  reports that Mompha was re-arrested last Friday, August 14 when he went to the EFCC office in Ikoyi , Lagos to reclaim his five wristwatches, one Apple Air pod, one iPhone 8 mobile phone and one pair of sunglasses, seized from him by the anti-graft  agency last October.   However, following an application by his lawyer, Gboyega Oyewole (SAN), Justice Mohammed Liman had on July 24 ordered the EFCC to release the items to Mompha.   The judge ruled that since the items were not listed as exhibits in the money laundering charges filed against Mompha, the EFCC had no justification to continue to hold onto them. Barcelona have officially sacked manager Quique Setien in the wake of their humiliating 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals.   The club fired Setien following an emergency meeting on Monday morning, August 17,  after suffering one of the biggest defeats of their 120-year history and going trophyless for first time in 12 years   A statement on Barcelona's official website read: 'This is the first decision within a wider restructuring of the first team which will be agreed between the current technical secretary and the new coach, who will be announced in the coming days.'   The 61-year-old Spaniard who was only appointed in January before he was fired is expected to be replaced by Holland manager, Ronald Koeman.  Share by Adeniji Ifeoluwa Inflex 

Simi asks "what's the point" of formal education when people rarely use what they were taught in school

Simi took to Instagram to ask why getting a formal education is still important when people mostly forget what they were taught in school and "end up doing something else with their lives."   The mum-of-one said the "educational system is so sh**." Graduate of UNILAG bags 50 years imprisonment for raping 19-year-old girl in Lagos

A 34-year-old man was sentenced to 50 years imprisonment by an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, for raping a 19-year-old student of UNILAG on campus.   John Otema, a UNILAG graduate, was charged before Justice Abiola Soladoye with three counts of rape and assault occasioning harm on two female students.    The quantity surveyor and facilities manager was found guilty on two-counts of rape and assault occasioning harm in respect of the rape of the 19-year-old student (Student X), but was found not guilty on a charge of raping a 20-year-old student (Student Y) of the institution.   He bagged 50-years in prison for the rape and three-years in prison for the assault on student X with both sentences to run concurrently. Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Frodd called out fellow former housemate Omashola after the latter compared him to current housemate Lucy.   "Lucy and Frodd who cry pass?" Omashola asked on Twitter.   Frodd didn't appreciate the comparison and he made it know in his reply to Omashola.   "Is like you are stupid ?" 3 Corps members and 19 undergraduates arrested for alleged Internet fraud in Ibadan (photos)

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibadan Zonal Office on Tuesday August 11, arrested 32 "Yahoo boys" for their alleged involvement in internet fraud.   The suspects were apprehended during a raid on their hideout in Ogbomoso, Oyo State. Officers of the EFCC swept on the location, after diligent analysis of a series of intelligence gathered on their alleged criminal activities.     According to a statement released by the antigraft agency, three of the suspects claimed to be serving members of the National Youth Service Corps ( NYSC), 19 were undergraduates of various universities across the country, while the remaining 10 laid claim to sundry vocations.     The suspects are Oyebamiji Francis; Aremo Jeremiah; Ogbonnaya Prosper John; Anuoluwapo Matthew; Oladele Victor; Mumuni Waliyullah; Olawoyin Abiodun; Okuwatoyin Henry; Arisekola Shina; Babarinde Solomon; Samson Gideon; Joshua Ola Adebayo; Ajayi Joseph Ajibola; Garba Mojeed, Olatunbosun Tobiloba and Azeez Ridwan.

I don't care what people will say about me when I'm dead - Obasanjo speaks again

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has fired back at his critics following the controversy that trailed his condolence message on the death of Buruji Kashamu, a former senator and factional leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State.   In his controversial condolence message, the former President said the late Kashamu who was wanted in the United States of America for alleged drug offences, was able to escape justice but could not evade death.   Obasanjo's comment attracted criticism from some notable Nigerians including former Governors of Ekiti and Lagos states, Peter Ayodele Fayose and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.    However in an interview with Premium Times,  the former President said it is okay for people to mourn every death but that the living including himself, must draw the right lessons from the lives of those who have died.   He said;    “When I was growing up, in our community, when anyone known with bad character died, we usually only mourn him and bury him. President Buhari has appealed to Nigerians to exercise more patience in his administration's fight against insecurity.    In a statement released on Monday August 10, Buhari disclosed that they are investing heavily in acquiring modern equipment. He added that when the equipment arrive, security operatives will undergo training ahead of deployment to the field.   The statement read;    We are working very hard to ensure the security situation in every part of Nigeria improves very soon. As part of our efforts, we are investing heavily in acquiring modern equipment. Some have arrived, some are being cleared at the Ports, and we have others still on their way. Our government is doing its best on the question of equipment, and the military know. We understand the importance of properly equipping our personnel, so that they can deliver their best. A 28 year old woman, known as Mayra Ramirez has become the very first Coronavirus survivor to receive a double lung transplant in the United States.   Ramirez, experiencing Coronavirus symptoms, arrived at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital's emergency room on April 26 and within minutes, her terrible experience with the disease began. Pastor Tunde Bakare, the serving General Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church formerly known as Latter Rain Assembly has kicked against the reopening of churches by the Lagos state government.    Reacting to Governor Sanwo-Olu's directive of reopening religious centres for services from August 7, the Pastor asked worshippers not to be “deceived by the government or religious leaders”.   He also disclosed that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) projected that COVID-19 may reach its peak in August.   Pastor Bakare said in an online service;    “I have to appeal to you once again, please keep safe and do your best to stay alive. Manchester United and Jadon Sancho 'agree terms on a five-year contract worth £340, 000 per week'

Manchester United have reportedly agreed terms on a five-year deal worth £340,000-a-week with Jadon Sancho.   The England international and Borussia Dortmund forward is on the verge of joining United with the two clubs in advanced talks over a deal worth £108million.    According to BILD, Sancho has now put pen to paper on personal terms and all that needs to be determined before the deal can go through is the structure of the transfer.   Other reports claimed United would pay £63m upfront and then £27m and £18m over the next two summers.     Negotiations are still ongoing but are expected to be finished within the next week, with Dortmund set to make a staggering profit having signed the winger for just £8m from United's arch-rivals Manchester City in 2017.   A fee of £108m for the 20-year-old would see him become the most expensive player bought by an English club, topping the £89m Manchester United paid to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus in 2016.    The deal would also see Sancho

                  Manchester United football club have released new jersey kits to be used for the 2020-2021 season to begin in September.   The Red Devils' new jerseys stick to the classic red design of their home kit, with their away and third kits having a more acoustic look.     The jersey is patterned based on the club's iconic badge and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men will wear it for the first time against LASK in the Europa League on Wednesday night.
