#Updates; Reps asks tertiary institutions to suspend academic activities for students to vote

Adeniji Inflex share this story on 28 of Jan 2023 The house of representatives has appealed to management of tertiary institutions in the country to suspend academic activities ahead of the elections.   In the appeal made to National Universities Commission (NUC), National Board for Technical Education (NABTE), National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), and the ministry of education, the lower chamber of the national assembly said suspension of academic activities will enable students to travel to the areas where their polling units are situated and also ensure they are disenfranchised.    The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was also asked to make special arrangements for students to collect their PVCs.   The resolution was reached on Thursday, January 26, following the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by Kabir Ibrahim, a lawmaker representing Zuru/Fakai/Danko-Wasagu/Sakaba federal constituency of Kebbi.   Ibrahim who pointed out th

News; 71-year-old man dies inside lodging he checked in with his 22-year-old lover

Adeniji Inflex share this story on 28 of Jan 2023 A 71-year-old man reportedly collapsed and died during a steamy session with a 22-year-old woman at a lodging in parklands, Nairobi, Kenya.    The man who checked into the room with the young lady at 4 pm, started gasping for air two hours later and also complained of chest and back pains.   Within seconds, his hands and legs went numb, prompting the woman to call for help from a taxi driver who was standing at the gate of the building.   He was rushed to Agha Khan hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The body of the deceased was moved to a nearby morgue pending an autopsy. News; Delta Court remands man for allegedly raping his girlfriend's17-year-old daughter and infecting her with HIV

Adeniji Inflex share this story on 28 of Jan 2023 A Magistrate Court sitting in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State on Friday, January 27, 2023, ordered the remand of a suspect at Ogwashi-uku correctional centre for allegedly raping his girlfriend's 17-year-old daughter.    According to the activist handling the case, Marvin Mordi, the suspect who has allegedly been sexually molesting the victim since she was 11 years old also infected her with HIV virus.    He further alleged that the victim's mother was aware of the sexual abuse but covered it because she didn't want to lose her relationship.    Popular activist, Comrade Israel Joe, who confirmed the incident, said the man also infected the victim's mother with HIV.    "Today, a magistrate court in Ibusa remanded this man who infested a woman with HIV and also has been defiling the woman's daughter. Adeniji Inflex share this story on 17th Jan 2023 A 32-year-old vulcaniser has been sentenced to death by hanging for robbing a nurse of N57,000 at Akesan bus stop, near Igando, Lagos.   An Ikeja Special Offences Court presided over by Justice Mojisola Dada sentenced Chidozie Onyinchiz on Tuesday, Jan. 17.   Justice Dada held that the prosecution had proved the three-count charge of conspiracy, armed robbery and membership of an unlawful society against Onyinchiz.   Dada said the convict’s attempt to wriggle out of the charges was futile because he had earlier confirmed to the police at Igando, Lagos, that his victim, Mrs Veronica Uwayzor sighted him and they both recognised each other at the time of the offence.   Justice Dada said: "The defendant had stated that the complainant pointed at him as one of the boys armed with a pair of scissors and forcefully snatched her bag containing N57,000 at Akesan Bus Stop.   "The complainant had stated that neither the defendant nor his
