Schools, hotels and others to benefit from MSMEs support scheme – Osinbajo

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday July 16, disclosed that private schools, hotels, road transport workers and many others, would benefit from the stimulus package the Federal Government has put in place for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises to cushion the effect of the Coronavirus pandemic in the country.   In a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity Laolu Akande, the Vice President said the support scheme had been covered by the government’s Economic Sustainability Plan and the survival fund would help provide payroll support to MSMEs with a minimum of 10 and maximum of 50 staff members.   Osinbajo said;    “I am glad to note that this year has been an exception despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Borno classroom turned into a poultry farm as schools remain closed due to the pandemic

A classroom in Borno state has been converted into a poultry farm as schools remain closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.   Photos shared online show numerous domestic fowls and poultry feeding on what used to be the floor of a classroom.   Chairs and desks were piled on top of each other on one side of the room to create space for the poultry farm.   See below. 63% of sanitizers are counterfeit, says Federal Government

The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 said yesterday, July 16, that about 63 per cent of alcohol-based hand sanitisers in circulation are not registered and may not be genuine.   PTF Chairman and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha said this at the PTF briefing in Abuja. He added that the Minister of Health had issued an advisory to the public to procure pharmaceutical products from credible sources.   The SGF said: "As part of the non-pharmaceutical measures, we recommended in line with global practice, the use of hand sanitizers. Ordinarily, that ought to stimulate local production because of increased demand.   "We regret to inform you that following a survey conducted by the Nigeria Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD) to check the influx of substandard goods, it was revealed that 63 per cent of alcohol-based sanitizers in Abuja does not have NAFDAC registration numbers. Real Madrid win its 34th La Liga title (photos)

Real Madrid won the LaLiga title on Thursday night with a game to spare thanks to a 2-1 Benzema inspired victory over Villarreal while Barcelona lost 1-2 to Osasuna at the Camp Nou.   Real Madrid's win was it's 10th win in a row as they have been irresistibly unspectacular since the return of football.     Club manager, Zinedine Zidane at the beginning of the season decided to focus on the LaLiga title and ahead of  kick-off on Thursday night said; “I don't have to think about if we draw tomorrow, or on Sunday, we will be going all out to win the game, as we do in every game,”  Now as champion, Zinedine Zidane and his players must surely be happy to have beat Barcelona again. House of Representatives faults FG's decision to cancel WASSCE examination

The House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education and Services has faulted the Federal government's decision to cancel the 2019/2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination WASSCE due to the Coronavirus pandemic.   Recall that the Minister of State for Education,  Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba , had on July 6 announced that the examination, which was earlier scheduled for April this year but postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, will now hold from August 4 to September 5.   However, after the virtual Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, July 8, the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, announced a reversal of that decision. He said Nigerian schools will not reopen any time soon “until it is safe to do so because of the COVID-19 pandemic”. "I don't want to have kids because I'm scared I'll end up like my mum" Nigerian woman narrates her experience in the hands of her abusive mother

A Nigerian woman has recounted the abuse she suffered in the hands of her mother and she said she never wants to have kids because she doesn't want to treat them the way her mother treated her.   Ukwu Ose made this revelation while defending Chidera, the Nigerian boy who went viral when he was filmed  destroying his parents' home  after which he said his  family is dead to him .   Reacting, Ukwu Ose narrated her own experience growing up with her mother.   She said her mum once used a pestle to break her head. She added that she eventually ran away from home to escape abuse.   She said that when she ran away, she realized she didn't need her anti-depressants anymore. The atmosphere at her home had been the cause of her depression.   She further stated that her mother was abused by her own parents and she took it out on her kids. As a result, she is scared of having kids of her own to avoid taking out the abuse she suffered from her mother on them....
